ACMH Hospital in Kittanning reported Tuesday that it is treating its first patient with covid-19.

The hospital did not release details about the patient or their condition.

It said it has notified the state Department of Health about the case, and is working to identify and contact people with whom the patient had contact.

Hospital officials are asking patients to contact their medical providers before coming to the hospital for routine lab work or other procedures to see if the work is medically necessary or could be postponed.

The hospital also asked people to not come directly to the hospital if they are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough or sore throat. Instead, the hospital said those people should first contact their primary care provider and, if directed to be tested, they should go to the hospital’s E Entrance under the canopy overhang where specimens are being collected.

People without a primary care provider should contact the state Department of Health at 877-PA-HEALTH, the hospital said.
