Arnold man sentenced for city shooting
An Arnold man was ordered to serve up to nine years in prison for his role in a shooting near the city’s police station more than three years ago.
Michael Todd Lasko, 30, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and two firearms offenses in connection with gunfire that erupted May 24, 2019, in the 1800 block of Fifth Avenue. Police said more than 30 shots were fired in an exchange that involved four men and was recorded on surveillance video obtained from several local businesses.
Police did not report any injuries as a result of the shooting.
Westmoreland County Common Pleas Judge Scott Mears sentenced Lasko to serve a minimum of 4½ years in prison.
Three other men were charged in the case.
Gemayl Johnson, 38, of New Kensington pleaded guilty in February to a firearms offense and one count of tampering with evidence. He was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in jail.
Jordan Johnson, 27, of Arnold pleaded guilty in April to a weapons offense. He is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
A fourth man, Cory Liggins, 34, of New Kensington, was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and firearms offenses. According to court records, Liggins is still at large.
