Arnold man sentenced to 13½ years in connection to fentanyl overdose
A federal judge sentenced an Arnold man to more than 13 years in prison for distributing fentanyl that caused a man’s death, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said Wednesday.
U.S. District Judge Mark Hornak ordered Jarrel Williams, 32, to serve 13 years and six months in federal prison followed by six years of supervised release.
Prosecutors said Williams was the source of fentanyl that caused the death of a 33-year-old Westmoreland County man in 2017. He was not identified.
Williams pleaded guilty in February. His prison term was based on that plea agreement.
Authorities said Williams has a long history of committing drug crimes and domestic assaults, and was on parole when he distributed the fentanyl. He had already been convicted of trafficking cocaine and possessing heroin in two other cases and was free on bond in two additional cases for possessing heroin.
Allegheny Township and West Leechburg police participated in the investigation, along with state police, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Westmoreland County District Attorney’s office.
