Arnold man sought on abuse of corpse charge arrested in New Kensington
An Arnold man police were looking for in connection with a body found in Scott Township last year was arrested Thursday morning in New Kensington, Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus said.
Sheriff’s detectives and New Kensington police found Bradley Smith, 33, at a home on Sixth Street. He was arrested without incident.
Police allege that Smith and Abdullah Faheem, 52, of Cincinnati dumped the body of Bridgeville landscaper Lavarr Carroll, 43, in the area of Booth Way and Boden Avenue in Scott Township on May 8, 2022.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Aug. 6 that Carroll died of alcohol and drug intoxication and had marijuana, cocaine, fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl and para-fluorofentanyl in his system.
Allegheny County Police charged Smith and Faheem on Monday with abuse of a corpse and conspiracy.
Police said Tuesday that Faheem was in custody. He was being held in Ohio’s Lorain Correctional Institution, under an alias, for a parole violation.
Smith was arraigned Thursday before New Kensington District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. He was denied bond and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
Smith also has an active warrant for violating state parole on a 2011 involuntary manslaughter conviction involving a shooting in Pittsburgh, the sheriff’s department said.
