Pittsburgh woman facing felony charges after Arnold police say she punched woman, scuffled with officers

Arnold police accused a woman of spitting at officers and kicking one of them in the groin when they tried to arrest her for allegedly assaulting another woman.

Korrina Jolynn Booker, 35, of the 6800 block of Frankstown Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault along with counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and causing institutional damage, according to a criminal complaint.

Police wrote in Booker’s arrest papers that they responded to a call for a dispute between two women June 5 at a home in the 400 block of 18th Street in Arnold and saw Booker screaming at the victim’s house before taking a running start and kicking the front door to try to get in.

Booker is accused of spitting on officers and kicking one of them in the groin when they tried to take her into custody, police said. They said she had slurred speech and other signs indicating she was intoxicated.

Before police arrived, Booker kicked in the front door and punched a woman who lived there in the face before the woman was able to push Booker outside and block the door, the complaint said.

Police said Booker was screaming accusations at the woman that she had her children in the house. The children, however, were with their grandmother at a home in the 200 block of 18th Street, according to her arrest papers.

The woman in the house was treated by emergency medical technicians for a bloody nose and bruises to her face, the complaint said.

Police said the institutional vandalism charge was added after Booker was taken to the Arnold police station and began spitting at officers and on electronic equipment.

Booker is being detained in the Westmoreland County jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond, court records show.

She faces a preliminary hearing on the charges before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. on June 16.
