Aspinwall dog park users have an opportunity to voice their concerns about the upcoming season.
Dogs can roam free in the Aspinwall Recreation Area ball fields Nov. 1 through March 31. The infields are fenced off to limit damage to the baseball playing area.
Borough officials have scheduled an open forum for discussion 6 p.m. Monday at the borough building, 217 Commercial Ave.
Registration is not required. No pets are allowed at the meeting.
“I hope to get as many people as we can and provide information,” said Lou Curcio, councilman and property and parks committee chair. “It’s a big thing for residents. I want to learn what did they enjoy, what could we improve on. Do we need more sanitary stations? Do people break the rules (and) what rules can they break.”
The borough raised registration fees and implemented a new rules last season.
Resident fees went from $10 to $15 for the season for the first pet and $10 for each additional dog.
Nonresident fees were $30 for the first pet and $15 for each additional dog.
There was no fee for nonresidents in previous seasons. Last season was also the first with additional dog fees.
Dog park users in previous years paid just one registration fee, which covered all the user’s dogs.
Curcio said he expects fees to remain the same this coming season.
Dog registration begins Oct. 15.
There will be forms at the borough office and available through the borough website, aspinwallpa.com.
