Assault and harrassment charges against Carly Miller, a former Knoch Primary School teacher, were dropped Thursday, more than a year after she was charged.

Miller, 36, of Hampton had been charged with simple assault and harassment for a November 2024 incident, during which police said she struck an autistic student in the face after the student bit her.

Justin Quinn, an associate at Valsamidis Law, said Butler County Judge Joseph E. Kubit dismissed those charges after a 30-minute hearing.

Steve Valsamidis, owner of the law firm, was happy with the outcome of the case, saying Miller was “doing everything pursuant to her training.”

“It was definitely a good decision,” Valsamidis said. “This case should never have been brought forward.”

Knoch solicitor Tom Breth previously said the district had fired Miller. Miller is working through a union appeals process, he said. He did not immediately respond to a TribLive request for comment Thursday.

David Foley, Knoch superintendent, declined to answer TribLive questions about Miller’s employment status. Miller is not listed on the district’s online staff directory.
