At-large council seat available in Tarentum
There is an at-large council seat available in Tarentum.
Residents from any borough ward can apply to fill the four-year term.
Council Vice President Lou Ann Homa said she’s hoping for someone who wants to help the borough succeed and is able to work with the current council.
“I’d also like someone who isn’t afraid to ask questions and get involved,” Homa said.
The position is available after Scott Dadowski won two positions in November. He won the at-large seat and a position to represent the 2nd Ward.
On Tuesday, Dadowski accepted the 2nd ward seat, leaving a wider opportunity for interested residents to apply for the at-large seat.
“I chose to open the at-large seat in the hope of attracting someone from the entire borough, not just a specific ward,” Dadowski said.
“I look forward to continuing to serve all of the residents of the borough in my role as council president.”
There is a 30-day time frame to advertise for the position and interview prospective candidates.
Council will tackle some significant projects in the coming months, including an update of the borough’s zoning ordinance and the formulation of a riverfront development plan.
Dadowski said he will cast his vote for the appointment to someone who is a dedicated resident and wants to work with council to help make Tarentum the best it can be.
“No specific job experience is required, just someone that has the best interests of our residents with the goal of continuing to move Tarentum forward.”
Borough Manager Dwight Boddorf said he expects council to appoint someone at the agenda meeting Feb. 6.
Anyone interested can call Boddorf at 724-224-1818.
