A federal agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was shot Thursday, June 18, 2020, during an operation in Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood, the agency confirmed in a statement.

The house in Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood where an ATF agent was shot Thursday morning belongs to one of a dozen people charged with drug trafficking in a federal indictment unsealed Thursday.

A dozen defendants from Allegheny, Westmoreland and Lawrence counties have been charged with drug trafficking following a lengthy wiretap investigation into narcotics distribution in ithe Pittsburgh region, U.S. Attorney Scott Brady announced.

The ATF agent, who was not named, was shot during a raid on the 1 Marion St. home of Dion Williams, 44, FBI officials confirmed Thursday evening.

The agent was said to be in stable condition.

Williams is charged with conspiracy and possession to distribute at least 5 kilograms of cocaine, over a period from last November to this month.

Charged alongside Williams were:

• Donald Epps, 65, of New Kensington

• Michael Glenn, 57, of Pittsburgh

• Michael Turner, 47, of Wampum

• Gary Wilkinson, 56, of Pittsburgh

• Ivan Upsher, 58, of Pittsburgh

• Gerald Bogan Jr., 39, of Pittsburgh

• Charles King, 57, of Pittsburgh

• Jeffrey Brown, 50, of Pittsburgh

• Michael Jones, 69, of Monessen

If convicted, they face between 10 years and life in prison.

Two other defendants, Timothy Harris, 57, and Giles Davis, 60, both of Pittsburgh, are charged with conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute at least an ounce of crack cocaine.

The indictments are related to a larger investigation into the drug-trafficking activity of the “11 Hunnit” street gang, which investigators said operates in Pittsburgh’s Hill District and beyond.

A total of 22 defendants have been charged in separate, but related, indictments stemming from the investigation.

“For too long, the ’11 Hunnit’ gang has terrorized the law-abiding residents of the City of Pittsburgh and the Hill District,” Brady said. “Through the four indictments of 22 members and associates of ’11 Hunnit,’ we have effectively dismantled this gang and its grip on our city.”

In addition to the ATF, agents and officers from the FBI, Pittsburgh police, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office and Office of the Attorney General were part of the investigation.
