Five Alarm Flood singer Mike Leasure, left, performs with guitarist Steve Plosnock on Sunday at the Back the Blue concert in New Kensington.

About 800 people were expected for the Back the Blue concert held at Quality Inn on Tarentum Bridge Road on Sunday in New Kensington, according to organizer Daniel Leo.

Seven bands were on the bill for the event designed to raise money for the family of slain Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire, who was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 2.

Leo, who operate the Sports Page bar inside the hotel, said he expects to raise between $8,000 and $10,000 for the McIntire family.

“We just wanted to help the family in any way we could,” Leo said. “It hits close to home.”

In addition to the seven bands, there were also gift basket auctions and 50/50 raffles. Former Pittsburgh Penguin Ken Wregget attended, as well, donating a signed Bryan Rust jersey for the auction.
