The Salvation Army in Brackenridge hosted a successful Back-to-School Bash on Aug. 19. Willy T’s Cuts of Tarentum provided haircuts during the event.

More than 500 Highlands students will be sporting new backpacks when school starts Aug. 31, thanks to the annual Back-to-School Bash by the Salvation Army in Brackenridge.

“It was another great success,” Captain Dave Bender said.

Pioneer Hose Company pulled up in a fire engine Saturday to give children an up-close look at the gear, and Willy T’s Cuts of Tarentum provided fresh looks.

Bender thanked Highlands graduate Elijah Majocha for helping to fundraise and gather school supplies for the event.

“The Salvation Army thanks all of our volunteers, staff and community partners for helping us run this event each year,” Bender said.
