A boil water advisory is in effect for some residents in the Fox Chapel area.

Officials at the Fox Chapel Authority confirmed the alert but the manager was not immediately available for details.

The Authority, based in RIDC Park in O’Hara, serves about 5,500 customers in a 15-square-mile area.

Residents and businesses that are affected have been contacted by automatic calls, a person who answered the phone at the office said.

The Fox Chapel Authority provides water to all or parts of Fox Chapel, Harmar, Indiana Township and O’Hara.

Boil advisories mean that people should use bottled water or boiled tap water for drinking, food preparation and bathing/brushing their teeth.
