A yearlong bridge project in East Deer that caused Freeport Road to be reduced to one lane is completed.

The road reopened to traffic Monday, according to a news release by Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners.

The project to replace the bridge over Baileys Run began last summer. The bridge, located in front of the Creighton post office, was reduced to one lane with traffic alternating using temporary traffic signals. Both lanes reopened in the winter until, but closed again in April.

The new bridge is longer and wider than the one it replaced and was designed to last 100 years.

The bridge is the last one in Allegheny County to be replaced as part of PennDOT’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a public-private partnership between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners. The project replaced 52 bridges in Allegheny County.
