Brackenridge man arrested after, police say, homeowner finds him eating ice cream at kitchen table
A Brackenridge man was arrested after a borough resident told police he returned to his Cleveland Avenue home Thanksgiving Day and found the man sitting at the kitchen table eating ice cream.
Richard Troup, 46, of Sixth Avenue was charged with two felony counts each of burglary and criminal trespass as well as lesser charges of defiant trespass, theft of services and harassment in connection with the incident, according to a criminal complaint.
Police said the man who lives there told them Troup was able to get into his house without breaking in because he once worked for him and had a key to the residence that was never returned after he was fired, the complaint said.
The man said his doors were locked when he left to run an errand. He said there was no sign of forced entry when he returned and found Troup inside.
The homeowner said he confronted Troup, who threatened to kill him when he repeatedly ordered Troup to leave, the complaint said. Troup left only when the homeowner threatened to call police, the homeowner said.
The homeowner also accused Troup of breaking into an office he has in the same building where Troup lives. He said Troup stole electric service by running an extension cord to his apartment.
Troup was released without having to post a bond after being arraigned before District Judge Carolyn Bengel.
He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Bengel on Dec. 8.
