Christmas decorations once again will brighten Brackenridge Avenue this holiday season.
Councilman Dino Lopreiato, chairman of parks and recreation, told Brackenridge Council he has ordered decorations to adorn utility poles along the business district’s main street.
“Brackenridge Avenue will light up again like it used to,” Lopreiato said.
He said he ordered 13 wreaths with three candles in the center to mount on the poles. The order includes 40 holiday banners to stretch across various streets in town, he said.
“They should last 10 to 15 years,” Lopreiato said of the new decorations.
Council allocated $15,000 to spend on new Christmas decorations, and Lopreiato said the decorations he ordered will come in under that figure, including taxes and shipping costs.
He said the manufacturer said it will take about eight weeks to fill and ship the order, which means the decorations should arrive just in time for Christmas. When they do arrive, he said, the borough’s public works department will install them.
According to Lopreiato, it has been three years since Brackenridge Avenue was decked out for the Christmas season after the previous street decorations wore out.
