Brian Kelley concert, organized by Harrison girl, to help Tarentum police establish K-9 unit
West Deer’s newest concert venue will see a big-name country music act this week to help raise money for a local cause.
Country music star Brian Kelley, formerly of Florida Georgia Line, will perform Friday at No Offseason Sports’ outdoor concert stage. Kelley, now pursuing a successful solo career, had 19 No. 1 songs with Florida Georgia Line.
He released his first full-length album under new management in May, “Tennessee Truth,” and was one of the music performers last month at the Republican National Convention.
He released his latest single, “Make America Great Again,” two weeks ago.
But it’s not politics bringing him to West Deer.
Instead, his concert is a fundraiser to help Tarentum police get a police dog.
The concert is the brainchild of Kaley Bastine, 12, of Harrison, who has been raising money for various local police departments for years.
“We shared my story with (Kelley), and he said, ‘How can I help?’ ” Kaley said.
“I’m hoping we can get a K-9.”
The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the No Offseason venue, 904 Little Deer Creek Valley Road in West Deer. Tickets can be purchased at nooffseasonentertainment.com. People also can make donations by contacting Kaley’s mother, Jamie Bastine, at jbastine13@gmail.com.
Kaley is well known across the Alle-Kiski Valley for coordinating fundraisers that benefit local police departments through her charity, Kaley’s Kops. It all started on July 4, 2018, when she sold lemonade outside her family’s home to raise money for the Harrison Police Department.
She has spent the past six years raising money for police, with a total amount nearing $76,000.
Friday’s concert is another way for her to give back to the community. She hopes the concert will be a success and thanked those who have supported her over the years.
Tarentum officers are “very nice,” Kaley said, and are always ready to help people.
The department also serves Brackenridge.
Dwight Boddorf, Tarentum’s borough manager, said the fundraiser isn’t just about raising money for a K-9 unit, but also fosters a sense of unity and shared responsibility for the safety and well-being of Tarentum.
“Events like this demonstrate the strong bond between our residents and law enforcement,” he said. “We are incredibly grateful for the support from No Offseason Sports, Kaley’s Kops and all participants in this endeavor. It is heartwarming to see such enthusiasm and commitment to making a positive impact.”
