Westmoreland County Transit’s daily bus service to Pittsburgh Mills will be temporarily cut starting Monday.
Officials said the authority’s Route 14 bus service that runs through New Kensington and to the shopping complex will be shortened and no longer run to the mall during the six-week closure of the New Kensington Bridge.
The nearly century-old bridge is being closed as part of a $24.59 million preservation project that started in March and is scheduled to be finished in fall 2024. It includes various repairs and full painting.
Westmoreland County Transit Authority Executive Director Alan Blahovec said the schedule for Route 14 cannot accommodate the lengthy detour put in place because of the bridge closure.
“There is literally nothing we can do to keep that in place,” Blahovec said of the stops to Pittsburgh Mills.
