Here’s an example of the bridge preservation work PennDOT plans to perform next week on roads in New Kensington and Upper Burrell.

Bridge preservation work will restrict traffic on three roads in New Kensington and one in Upper Burrell next week, PennDOT announced Thursday.

The affected roads are:

• Route 366 (Greensburg Road) between Albee Drive and Dutch Run Road in Upper Burrell, nighttime single-lane restrictions between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday.

• Route 56 (Seventh Street) between Stevenson Boulevard and Bell Street in New Kensington, nighttime single-lane restrictions between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday.

• Route 366 (Freeport Street) between Greensburg Road and Bridge Street in New Kensington, nighttime single-lane restrictions between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.

• Route 366 (Stevenson Boulevard) between Seventh and Fourth streets in New Kensington, nighttime single-lane restrictions between 6 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.

Flaggers will control traffic while work is underway. Work may be rescheduled in case of bad weather.

Crews from MEKIS Construction will be doing the work, which is part of a $2.08 million project that includes bridge preservation activities including epoxy-based surface treatments, minor bridge deck repairs and replacement of neoprene compression and strip seals on 16 routes and 22 structures in Westmoreland County.

The project is expected to be finished in October.
