Burrell School District’s spectator policy for football and indoor sporting events, adopted this week, allots two tickets to every senior participant and one ticket for each underclassman.

There isn’t enough room to accommodate everyone who wants to attend games given guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state Department of Health that are aimed at limiting the spread of covid-19, school officials said.

“If spectators do not follow social distancing and wear a face mask, the district may be forced to eliminate opportunities to be at our events,” said Burrell Superintendent Shannon Wagner.

Drake D’Angelo, Burrell’s athletic director, said the district developed the policy with state guidelines on gatherings in mind, including a limit of 250 people for outdoor events and 25 people for indoor events.

Details of the policy include:

• Spectators from the visiting team are not permitted to attend football and indoor events at Burrell because of the capacity restrictions. However, spectators from visiting teams are allowed to attend soccer, cross country, tennis and golf contests at Burrell.

•All spectators must wear a face covering and maintain six feet of social distancing whether inside or outside. Family groups are expected to distance themselves from other groups by six feet.

• At football games, band members and cheerleaders will be present along with spectators. The district will allot two tickets for each senior player, band member and cheerleader and one ticket for each underclassman.

• For soccer, tennis, cross country and golf, attendance will be limited to 250 people.

• For volleyball and other indoor sporting events, the district will allot two tickets for each senior and one ticket for every underclassman.

• Concessions will not be offered during the fall season.

• The school district will continue to livestream varsity football, soccer and volleyball contests. Events away from Burrell will be livestreamed when possible. Visit Burrell’s athletic department’s webpage for livestreaming information.
