A burst pipe Monday night at Riverview Senior Living in Harrison flooded lower-level units and forced a number of residents to leave.

Some residents left to stay with family members and others were moved to higher floors.

Township firefighters were dispatched around 7:50 p.m. to the apartments at 1330 11th Ave. The building is a former elementary school that opened in 2022 for senior living.

About 30 people live in the building. No injuries were reported.

Township emergency management coordinator Mike Krzeminski said crews were waiting on a technician to help determine the origin of the water break. They would assess property damage before calling for a full evacuation of the building

The Red Cross was called as a precaution. Pittsburgh Regional Transit buses were sent to the scene to provide a warm space for residents if needed. Responders also set up a makeshift warming center next to the building.

Krzeminski said a similar water emergency occurred earlier this year. That incident did not require an evacuation.
