A tractor-trailer sits in the intersection of Tarentum Bridge and Leechburg roads in New Kensington after becoming tangled in overhead wires shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. Police are directing traffic at the busy intersection. Motorists should expect significant delays.

Motorists ran into a rush-hour nightmare on Tarentum Bridge, Leechburg and Freeport roads Tuesday afternoon after a tractor-trailer knocked down power lines and a utility pole at the busy intersection of the roads in New Kensington.

Police and emergency responders were redirecting traffic as far away as the Tarentum side of the Tarentum Bridge in an effort to lessen traffic congestion. Police were directing motorists already trapped in the gridlock around the downed wires.

According to police at the scene, the tractor-trailer apparently caught on some wires, eventually pulling down a utility pole. No injuries were reported.
