Butler Brew Works opens new location in Oakmont

Butler Brew Works has opened a new retail shop in Oakmont.

The 600-square-foot facility located at 319 Maryland Ave., a little more than a half-hour drive from the brewery in downtown Butler, features many of the current cans and bottled brews along with a variety of beer-themed merchandise.

Its grand opening was during the Oakmont Chamber of Commerce’s Night Market on June 18.

“Our coolers got slammed,” said co-owner Nick Fazzoni. “They looked pretty empty afterwards. (It was a) really great reception. We got to talk to a lot of people there who were surprised we were there, didn’t know we were there and happy to find us there. A lot of people were excited with what we were offering and had a lot of compliments for us. A really warm reception from everybody there.”

Fazzoni said when he and co-owner Nate Troyan looked to expand their business last year, Oakmont had the right space and location. The shop took about eight months to construct.

“We always liked Oakmont,” Fazzoni said. “We always thought it was a great little community. It sort of had that hometown feel that we feel here in Butler. We’re happy to get something going here and get us a little closer to Pittsburgh with our beers.

“We definitely wanted to be in the main drag of town there, and it worked out nicely to be directly beside (Burks BBQ). It was a good size for what we were looking to do at the time. We’re certainly always looking for new opportunities and the next thing on the horizon. This is a good way to get ourselves established in the community and get settled in and be a part of things.”

They also joined the chamber and plan to be involved in future borough events.

The Oakmont location’s retail manager is Tyler Galat.

The first Butler Brew Works opened at 101 S Main St. in the city five years ago.

It took first place for specialty beer in the inaugural Butler Brewfest and third place for overall beer at the event.

It also earned second place for taster’s choice in the third annual Cooper’s Lake Brew Fest and first place for Belgian-style fruit beer at the U.S. Beer Open Championship in 2017 with its Ale of Arrows.

Some of its popular selections include the New England IPA Soft Top, the stout La Noche Triste and Bantam red ale.

Limited releases include the Pacifica Pils pilsner, Wrangler Wave IPA and the stout Uncle Bud’s Brownies.

The Butler brewery has a full chef-run kitchen and soon will be offering live entertainment.
