Car plummets over Route 66 hillside, lands in creek in Washington Township

A car crashed along Route 66 in Washington Township and landed on its roof in a creek on the morning of Sunday, March 31, 2019.

A car crashed over a Washington Township hillside, plummeted about 50 feet and landed on its roof in a creek Sunday morning, officials said.

Dispatchers received a report of the crash along Route 66 at Greensburg Road shortly after 10 a.m., a Westmoreland County 911 shift commander said.

One person was taken to a local trauma center, according to the Murrysville Medic One ambulance service.

The person’s condition was not available.

Police, medics and volunteer firefighters from Washington Township, White Valley and Sardis assisted in the response.

Washington Township police are investigating.
