Volunteer Maryellen Schroeder had an artistic way of promoting the basket raffle at last year’s Mount St. Peter Parish Festa Italiana in New Kensington.

Those planning to attend Mount St. Peter Church’s annual Festa Italiana on Friday and Saturday are reminded to catch a shuttle from Valley High School.

There is little or no parking near the church.

The free shuttles will run from the Valley High School parking lot throughout the festival — from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

One of the largest and longest-running Italian festivals in the region, Festa is expected to draw hundreds of visitors each night.

In its 44th year, Festa is famous for homemade Italian food, including lasagna, spaghetti, Italian sausage and meatballs, pizza, cannoli and more.

More than 100 volunteers run the festival and cook the food, almost all on-site.

The festival also features games for adults and children, bingo and raffles. Other activities include an obstacle course for kids and games of chance for adults.

Music includes VZH&M from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, and the 56 East Band from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
