A new ATM in Riverview Plaza in New Kensington, shown on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, is part of JPMorgan Chase’s expansion in the Pittsburgh area.

A new ATM in New Kensington is part of JPMorgan Chase’s expansion in the Pittsburgh area.

The standalone machine in Riverview Plaza along Tarentum Bridge Road, next to Donut Connection, is scheduled to be operating before the end of the year, said Ashlei Bobo, vice president of regional communications for Chase.

“Our enhanced ATMs can perform close to 70% of routine transactions, featuring audio assistance and allowing customers to withdraw and deposit money,” Bobo said.

Chase is planning to open about 25 new branches and 50 standalone ATMs in Southwestern Pennsylvania over the next three years, she said. The bank held a grand opening for its first branch in Pittsburgh’s One Oxford Centre in October.

The company plans to hire 150 new employees, Chase said in announcing the expansion.

Chase is looking to add to its customer base in the area, which it says includes 235,000 consumer customers and 8,000 business customers in Allegheny County. The bank’s business in the region for nearly 20 years has been mainly commercial and business banking.

Chase’s move into the Pittsburgh area market is similar to that being undertaken by Bank of America, which has grown its presence from a single ATM in Downtown Pittsburgh to 17 ATMs, including one along Hulton Road in Oakmont.
