Cheswick is cancelling its household electronic and hazardous waste pickup on June 12 because of work stoppages to limit the spread of covid-19.

The borough’s waste hauler, Vogel Disposal Service, cannot provide the staffing for the special, by-appointment pickup because of the shutdown of nonessential business services, according to Lorraine Zebrine, Cheswick’s borough secretary.

The borough notified residents who signed up to for the waste pickup, she said.

Residents can dispose of their household electronic and hazardous waste on the next scheduled pick-up day, which is Sept. 11, Zebrine said.

Household items being collected include latex paint, electronics items, automotive products and garden and household chemicals.
