A Cheswick man has been sentenced to nearly two years in federal prison for failing to register as a sex offender, officials announced Friday.
U.S. District Judge W. Scott Hardy imposed the 21-month sentence on Roy W. Knoch, 51.
Authorities said from May 2022 until around November 2022 Knoch failed to register or update his sex offender registration after relocating from Nebraska to Pennsylvania, as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
Knoch was convicted in 2011 of first- and third-degree sexual assault on a child in Nebraska.
He was required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Hardy noted Knoch had a previous conviction in Nebraska for failing to properly register as a sex offender.
The judge stated that the 21-month sentence falls in the middle of the sentencing guideline range.
