A Ford City man died and a Kittanning woman and two children suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a collision Saturday afternoon in Armstrong County.

According a release from the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office, Richard Alan Eckner, 72, failed to stop at a stop sign while driving a Ford Escape through the intersection of Upper Hayes Run Road and State Route 28/66 in Rayburn Township.

A Dodge Durango driven by Erica Kirkpatrick of Kittanning sideswiped Eckner’s car at 1:23 p.m.

Eckner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pennsylvania State Police at Kittanning and several nearby fire departments responded to the scene and assisted the coroner’s office.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
