Residents in Brackenridge, Harrison and Tarentum will be taking to their communities’ streets in coming weeks to clean up trash.

Earth Day events are planned for Saturday, April 27, in Brackenridge and Harrison, and on the following weekend, Saturday, May 4, in Tarentum.

All three are registered with the Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania.

Earth Day is on April 22. Cleanup events are staged across the state from March through May.

The Brackenridge cleanup is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon. In Harrison the cleanup will be from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

In Brackenridge, volunteers will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the pavilion in Brackenridge Memorial Park, said Denise Sines, a board member with the Brackenridge Improvement Group said. Gloves, vests and garbage bags will be provided, with coffee in the morning and a light lunch after.

“We will clean up streets of Brackenridge,” Sines said. “Garbage will be collected in the park and the borough will pick it up.”

The Harrison group will gather between 11 a.m. and noon at Heights Plaza. Trash will be picked up along Pleasantville Road, Karns Road, Argonne Drive and Vermont Avenue, Springhill Road and in various areas in Natrona.

On May 4 in Tarentum, volunteers will met in the morning by the snack shack at Riverview Memorial Park. Councilwoman Carrie Fox is looking for individuals, groups and organizations to help.

Depending on how many volunteers turn out, Fox said they’ll be sent to spots throughout the borough, on the east and west sides. Vests, gloves and bags will be provided.

“I want to make our community the best it can be, a place they can be proud of living,” she said.

A lunch will be provided.
