Fans of flea markets have yet another reason to get up early in Tarentum.

A new community yard sale is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 22 in Riverview Memorial Park.

The first-time event is being sponsored by the borough’s Special Events Committee, according to council President Erika Josefoski.

Table space for vendors costs $5. Drop-in vendors will be accepted that day for $10.

Vendors should bring their own tables and tents, but they are not required, Josefoski said. Concessions will be available.

The community yard sale is in addition to four more “Trash to Treasure” events that have been scheduled this summer by the borough’s Recreation Board. They’ll be held on the third Sunday of the month from July through October — July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15 and Oct. 20 — in the parking lots at J.G.’s Tarentum Station Grille.

Also, the Alle-Kiski Valley Historical Society’s long-running “Fleatique” flea market is held at the Tour-Ed Mine grounds nearby in Fawn. That event is also on the third Sunday of each month from May through October, from dawn to 2 p.m.
