The first of two hotels slated to go up at the site of the former Days Inn in Harmar will enter its construction phase this spring.

That’s according to Naren Patel, co-owner of KN Hospitality, the firm developing the hotels. He said he’s still working through the permitting process and finalizing plans.

The first hotel is slated to be a Home2 Suites by Hilton, which Patel said should be completed in the first half of 2027.

A Fairfield Inn will follow the completion of the Home2 Suites, but construction won’t start there until 2028.

Both will sit at the site of the former Days Inn on Landings Drive, just off Freeport Road and near an entrance to the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Demolition of the former hotel was completed in December, according to Patel.

Patel’s company, based in Grove City, owns about 10 properties throughout the region, he said.

So far, he’s satisfied with the progress in Harmar.

“We’re moving slowly and steadily, but we’re moving,” Patel said.

Harmar supervisors approved the land development plans for the project last year, and the township’s zoning board gave the green light to a height variance allowing a maximum building height of 56 feet.

An engineer said during proceedings last February that the Home2 Suites would have 101 rooms and Fairfield would have 78.

Home2 Suites by Hilton has Pittsburgh-area locations in Cranberry and McCandless.

Fairfield Inn, by Marriott, is more common in the Pittsburgh region, with sites in Downtown Pittsburgh, New Stanton, Washington, Robinson, McCandless and Neville Island.

Both hotels would be the first of their brands in the Alle-Kiski Valley.
