The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Samuel Plazio, 64, of Vandergrift.
Allegheny County homicide detectives asked for the public’s help Monday in obtaining information about the case.
County 911 was notified at 10:41 a.m., and first responders found the victim pinned between a trailer and a loading dock in the 400 block of Nixon Road, according to authorities. He was dead at the scene.
The incident occurred in the shipping yard at Packaging Corporation of America, according to company officials.
Plazio was a third-party contractor, officials for the Lake Forest, Ill.-based company wrote in a news release in which they extended their condolences to the victim’s family.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office was to perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of his death, but a medical examiner’s release Tuesday night did not include results.
The county’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is working with homicide detectives on the investigation.
