One man was killed and the exit ramp from southbound Route 28 onto Route 910 was closed for several hours Tuesday.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office said Robert Burkardt, 68, of Verona, died in the crash.

It could not be determined whether anyone else was hurt.

An Allegheny County 911 shift commander said the crash was reported at 4:38 p.m.

The ramp appeared to be re-opened shortly before 8 p.m., according to PennDOT traffic cameras.

Harmar police could not immediately be reached for more details.

This was the first of two fatal crashes near Route 28 Tuesday night. The second happened about three hours later, when a man was killed at exit 15 near Harrison and Tarentum.
