Deer Lakes Middle School Student Council will hold an Easter Pop Up Shop fundraiser on Saturday afternoon.

Student council members will be selling decorative Easter bags filled with candy and a scented pencil at the front entrance of Deer Lakes Middle School on East Union Road from 1 to 3 p.m.

“The students have been working so hard despite the pandemic to find ways to continue to keep the mission of Student Council alive at Deer Lakes Middle School,” said school counselor Jackie Jaros.

The bags cost $2 a piece and can be picked up curbside. Peanut-free and gluten-free bag options are available.

Students will be able to buy any bags not sold Saturday at school on Monday and Tuesday. Pencils also will be sold for $1 apiece.

The money will help support middle school programs and projects, including student contests and activities and staff appreciation days, and to support service needs in the community.

“The kids have worked so hard this year to be creative since many of our typical events, such as school dances, have not been able to happen due to covid restrictions,” Jaros said.
