Dick's closes Pittsburgh Mills location, plans grand opening at Waterworks
The Pittsburgh Mills mall in Frazer is one step closer to having no remaining anchor tenants.
Sunday was the last day of business for the Dick’s Sporting Goods store at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, according to signs posted at the store.
A store manager was not permitted to provide any additional information. A company representative could not be reached for comment Sunday.
The signs directed shoppers to Dick’s website or to Dick’s Field House at The Waterworks Mall, Dick’s House of Sport at Ross Park Mall and Dick’s Sporting Goods at Monroeville Mall.
The Waterworks location, near Aspinwall, is not yet open. It will have a grand opening from June 20-22, according to the company’s website. In addition to sales, specials and prizes for shoppers, Pittsburgh Steelers player Joey Porter Jr. is scheduled to appear from noon to 1:30 p.m. June 21.
The new store is in The Waterworks’ former Walmart anchor space. Walmart operated its store in the plaza for nearly 20 years before closing it in 2022, citing underperforming sales.
The departure of Dick’s leaves Macy’s as the mall’s only anchor tenant. But Macy’s is poised to leave the mall as its two-story, nearly 173,000-square-foot store was put up for sale this year.
