Allegheny County Police are investigating a shooting at this Springdale Township house along the 800 block of Thompson Run Road.

A Springdale Township man is accused of shooting his wife, then turning the gun onto himself in their home on Friday, according to court documents.

Scott A. Mishler, 65, was charged by Allegheny County Police with aggravated assault and attempted criminal homicide in connection with the shooting that was reported at about 5:10 p.m. in the 800 block of Thompson Road, according to online court records.

Mishler hadn’t been arraigned Saturday morning on the charges, according to the court documents.

First responders found a woman with a gunshot wound to her abdomen and her husband with a gunshot wound to his head, police said. Both are expected to survive.

The Allegheny County Real Estate website shows the property owners are Scott and Judith Mishler.

Police said they do not believe anyone else was involved and there was no danger to the community. The investigation is ongoing.

Michael Manganaro, 66, lives near the Mishler’s house. He said he has lived there for four years and regularly says hello to Judith Mishler. She is always friendly and cordial, Manganaro said.

“I could always tell what time she’s done working Monday through Friday because she’s always on time,” he said.

Manganaro said he was surprised to hear from detectives that there was a shooting and both were wounded.

“You don’t expect that from two old people. You don’t know what’s going on in somebody else’s house,” Manganaro said. “When it’s nice out, he sits outside on his porch and reads and smokes. He’s always with his dog.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the county police tip line at 833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
