A Tarentum man died Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed in Murrysville, a Westmoreland County 911 dispatcher said.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on Route 366, the dispatcher said.

Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth Bacha identified the victim as Patrick G. Dzugan, 59, of Butler Street, Tarentum.

According to Bacha, Dzugan was the only one on a 2003 Big Dog motorcycle. He was heading west on Route 366.

Witnesses said Dzugan went off the left side of the road, hit the center guiderail and was thrown from the motorcycle, according to Bacha.

Dzugan, who Bacha said had not been wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Murrysville police are investigating the incident. They couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

The highway between Route 380 and Old Greensburg Road was closed as authorities investigated the crash, the dispatcher said.

Duster Funeral Home in Tarentum is handling arrangements for Dzugan.
