Drive-thru coming to Buffalo Township Sheetz
Sheetz in Buffalo Township is getting a makeover.
The gas station and convenience store, located at Route 356 and Monroe Road, soon will feature a drive-thru and updated store after township supervisors approved the project this week.
Supervisors gave approval for the existing store in 2007.
Sheetz will remove and rebuild the existing store, fuel island canopies and car wash, according to company spokesperson Nick Ruffner.
He called the new design a “restaurant-style experience” with self-service kiosks and additional seating, both inside and outside the store.
The store will expand to 6,139 square feet and include five double-sided fuel stations — two fewer than it has now.
Township Manager Rich Hill estimated that construction could take roughly six months but a start date is not known.
Ruffner declined to provide any information on the construction schedule.
Once work begins, employees from this store will be offered other jobs in the company while the rebuild is underway, Ruffner said.
Sheetz has remodeled several stores in Western Pennsylvania in recent years, including one in Greensburg and another in New Stanton.
The Buffalo Township location will join a handful in the region that boast drive-thrus, such as the Sheetz in Harrison and a newly opened store in Plum.
