Two events are taking place this weekend at Tarentum’s community garden.

A ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday to rededicate the garden, now known as Tarentum’s Greg Blythe Friendship Garden.

The Tarentum Recreation Board is sponsoring a plaque.

The garden was renamed for Blythe, one of its founders, earlier this year. Blythe, 62, former pastor of Abundant Joy Fellowship, died from cancer in November.

On Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m., Chris Ratliff of Boy Scout Troop 180 will be working on his Eagle Scout project at the garden.

The project includes construction of benches and compost bins and a general cleanup of the garden.

Volunteers are welcome to help.

The garden is located next to Dreshar Stadium on First Avenue and across from Bridge Street.
