New Kensington police are still looking for a suspect in the robbery Friday of First National Bank in New Kensington.

The bank is a freestanding building at the front of the Riverview Plaza property at 90 Tarentum Bridge Road.

A male robber threatened bank tellers by saying he was armed, but he didn’t display a weapon, according to a statement released Saturday by Melanie Jones, spokeswoman for Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli. The robbery occurred just before the bank closed at 5 p.m.

Ziccarelli’s office didn’t make public other details of the robbery or a description of the suspect.

“That’s all we can release at this time,” Jones said.

New Kensington police are leading the investigation, said Catherine Coennen, FBI Public Affairs officer for the Pittsburgh office.

Chief Bob Deringer referred inquiries back to Ziccarelli’s office.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked contact 911 or call New Kensington police at 724-339-7534.
