Fawn considers ordinance for placement of wind turbines, data centers and more
Fawn residents can weigh in on proposed changes to the township’s zoning ordinance during an upcoming public hearing.
The meeting will focus on regulations for the location of wind turbines, data centers and nuclear reactor facilities.
A proposed amendment provides for conditional uses for all three in the Industrial and IP zoning districts.
Several sets of criteria would need to be met. They include wind turbines meeting setback noise and wildlife standards; data centers complying with cybersecurity and energy efficiency guidelines; and nuclear reactor facilities abiding by all applicable federal and state regulations.
Township Secretary Pam Ponsart said the board wants to be proactive and make sure an ordinance is established.
“We want to make sure we protect the rural nature of the township,” Ponsart said.
The public hearing will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at the municipal building, 3054 Howes Run Road.
