The Burtner Road water storage tank in Fawn, parts of which are original to the 1970s, will be overhauled this year.

Fawn-Frazer Joint Water Authority was awarded a $422,000 state grant for the work. The money comes from the state’s Small Water and Sewer Fund.

The authority will pay $74,500 toward the work.

Authority Chairman Ed Adams said the project will include blasting the interior, painting inside and out, and renovating valves and piping. The tank holds about a quarter-million gallons.

“We were fortunate to get that grant,” Adams said.

The authority owns five storage tanks which all undergo regular maintenance. This is the first time in several years that the Burtner Road tank will get such extensive upgrades, he said.
