Problems persist for Fawn Township on Sun Mine Road.

The township supervisors on Tuesday night made part of the township road one lane after another hillside slippage took place recently.

Supervisors also declared an emergency on Sun Mine Road. The move will enable the township to expedite repairs on the road, bypassing formalities such as doing a traffic study.

Officials hope to conduct test borings on the hillside to determine how stable the land is and how best to remedy the problem.

The Mountain Top Campground area will remain open and accessible, supervisors said.

A guiderail replacement project on Sun Mine Road also has been completed. The work was done with a $20,000 grant from the Allegheny County Redevelopment Authority.
