Flowers featured in New Kensington Camera Club's spring exhibit at Pittsburgh Mills mall
Dozens of pictures and other art of flowers are featured in “Art in Bloom,” the New Kensington Camera Club’s annual spring floral photography and art show.
The exhibition has prizes for both the artists and the public who will decide the winners.
Club President Joel Varga said the show features 85 entries from 29 artists from the Alle-Kiski Valley.
“They’re over the top,” he said of the quality of the work. “They’re all very, very good.”
The show is going on through May 20 at the club’s “Focus on the Arts Gallery” in the Pittsburgh Mills mall in Frazer. The gallery is open from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
This is the third year for the show in its present format, Varga said. The club has had a floral photography art show in some form for at least a decade.
For this show, Varga said, each participant could enter up to four pieces.
Prizes for the artists are gift cards for Michaels arts and crafts store of $50, $30 and $20, Varga said.
All voters are registered for a random drawing with the first-place prize being a $25 gift card to a mall business of the winner’s choice, while the second is a $15 gift card. The third prize is a movie package for two at GQT Pittsburgh Mills Cinemas.
Those interested in visiting the gallery are advised to use mall entry 2 by M@C Discount, formerly Sears Grand, and turn left. The gallery is down the hall and across from Blackburn’s.
