Former Valley math teacher named assistant principal of Deer Lakes High School
A former Valley High School math teacher is now the assistant principal of Deer Lakes High School.
Joshua Tysk started his new role today.
The Deer Lakes School Board approved Tysk’s hiring at its October meeting. He will be paid $86,000.
“My excitement to be a part of the Deer Lakes School District administrative team is exponential,” Tysk said. “My educational journey to arrive here has been a wonderful experience, and I look forward to learning as well as growing our school community.”
Tysk has been a math teacher at Valley High School in the New Kensington-Arnold School District for 11 years. He also has worked at Butler Area High School and was a substitute teacher at Deer Lakes in 2010.
A graduate of Wheeling Park High School in West Virginia, Tysk earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from West Liberty State College. He obtained his master’s degree and principal certification from California University of Pennsylvania.
“Josh has a unique ability to connect and communicate with all students. We are extremely excited for Josh to continue fostering the growth of every student at the high school,” said Ryan Aleski, principal of Deer Lakes High School.
Superintendent Janell Logue-Belden said the high school would benefit from Tysk’s presence.
“We are thrilled to have Mr. Tysk as part of our administrative team,” she said. “His background in mathematics and his knowledge of the community will be a tremendous asset to the high school.”
