Fox Chapel Area municipal, school board primary results
Here are the results from the uncontested municipal and school board races in the Fox Chapel area May 20 Primary election, according to complete but unofficial returns from the Allegheny County Office of Elections.
Aspinwall
The mayoral race in Aspinwall featured Democrat Scott Zimmerman and Republican incumbent Joseph Noro seeking party nods to be on the November ballot. The term is for four years.
Zimmerman received 358 votes. There were 86 Democratic write-in votes cast.
Noro received 166 votes. There was one Republican write-in vote cast.
Four Democrats sought party nods for four-year council seats on the November ballot.
Council President Jeff Harris was the top vote getter with 393 votes, followed by newcomer Andrew Corey-O’Connor with 377, former councilwoman Patti McCaffrey with 368 and Councilwoman Lara Voytko with 337 votes.
Aspinwall Democrat Sarah Shaffer announced her withdrawal from the race on May 2.
Her name remained on the Primary ballot despite her withdrawal. She received 203 votes. There were 20 Democrat write-in votes cast for council.
The Republican race had three candidates seeking four party nods. Donald Mazreku was the top vote getter with 140 votes followed by Terry Nelson Taylor with 132 and Aggie Lotz with 128 votes.
There were 65 Republican write-in votes cast.
Terms are for four years.
Blawnox
Democratic Mayor Anthony Gross was the lone candidate seeking his party’s nomination for another four-year term.
He received 133 votes. One Democratic write-in vote for mayor was cast.
No one was on the Republican ticket and only four Republican write-in votes were cast.
Three Democrats sought party nominations for four ballot spots in the November election.
Council President Deborah Laskey was the top vote getter with 118 votes, followed by incumbents Christine Carnevali with 114, Matthew Stanczak with 108 and Vice President Randall Stoddard with 98. There were two Democratic write-in votes cast.
Incumbent Mark Lombardi was the lone Republican seeking a party nomination for one of four ballot spots. He received 30 votes. There were four Republican write-in votes cast.
Council terms are for four years.
There were no Democrat or Republican candidates for party nods for a two-year council seat. There were four Democratic write-in and four Republican write-in votes cast for that seat.
Fox Chapel
Democrat Jonathan Colton and Republican Robert Marsh sought their respective parties’ nominations for mayor.
Colton received 596 votes. There were 39 Democratic write-in votes cast. Marsh received 361 votes. There were 17 Republican write-in votes cast.
There were three Republicans seeking party nods for four council ballot spots in the November election.
Vice President Harrison Lauer was the top vote getter with 334 votes, followed by President Andrew Bennett with 330 and incumbent Bradley Harrison with 307 votes. There were 56 Republican write-in votes cast.
Barry Schaitkin was the only person on the Democratic ticket for four council seats.
He received 600 votes. There were 85 Republican write-in votes cast.
All terms are for four years.
Indiana Township
Democrat incumbent Jonathan Neumann and Republican Terrence Wirginis sought their party’s nod for township supervisor from District 5.
Neumann received 142 votes. There were no Democratic write-in votes cast.
Wirginis received 40 votes. There were two Republican write-in votes cast.
The term is for four years.
O’Hara
Republican Anthony Santucci is the lone candidate seeking a party nod for a 1st Ward council seat.
No one was on the Democratic ticket. However, there were 57 Democratic write-in votes cast for 1st Ward.
Democrat incumbent George Stewart was the lone candidate seeking a party nod for a council 2nd Ward 2 seat.
He received 244 votes. There were no Democratic write-in votes cast.
No one was on the Republican ticket. There were five Republican write-in votes cast for 2nd Ward.
Republican Vice President Mike Hammill was the lone candidate seeking a party nod for a 3rd Ward council seat.
He received 90 votes. There were no Republican write-in votes cast.
No one was on the Democratic ticket. However, there were 22 Democratic write-in votes cast for 3rd Ward.
Democrat incumbent Olivia Payne and Republican Heather Elizabeth Bell sought party nods for the open 4th Ward spot.
Payne received 263 votes. There were eight Democratic write-in votes cast.
Bell received 66 votes. One Republican write-in vote was cast.
Council president Cassandra Ross Eccles, Democrat, and Republican Melissa Fanto sought party nods for a 5th Ward council seat.
Eccles received 216 votes. There were 18 Democratic write-in votes cast.
Fanto received 84 votes. Two Republican write-in votes were cast.
All terms are for four years.
Sharpsburg
Democrat Mayor Kayla Portis sought her party’s nomination.
She received 302 votes. There were 12 Democratic write-in votes cast.
No one was on the Republican ticket. However, 10 Republican write-in votes were cast.
Four Democrats sought party nods for four, four-year ballot spots in November.
Vice President Karen Pilarski-Pastor was the top vote getter with 291 votes followed by Council President Adrianne Laing with 253, incumbent Corey Egwrube Ochai with 252 and incumbent Roman Mason with 232 votes.
There were 19 Democratic write-in votes cast.
No one was on the Republican ticket. However, 22 Republican write-in votes were cast.
Incumbent David Breingan, Democrat, sought his party’s nomination for a two-year ballot spot.
He received 283 votes. There were 12 Democratic write-in votes cast.
No one was on the Republican ticket and nine Republican write-in votes were cast for the two-year seat.
Fox Chapel Area School District
Incumbent Amy Cooper cross-filed for the Democratic and Republican nods for a Region 1 seat.
She received 1,073 votes on the Democratic ticket and 281 votes on the Republican ticket.
There were seven Democratic write-in votes and six Republican write-in votes for Region 1.
Incumbent Ariel Zych has cross-filed for a Region 2 seat.
She received 982 votes on the Democratic ticket and 369 on the Republican ticket.
There were eight Democratic write-in votes and 24 Republican write-in votes for Region 2.
Incumbents Adam Goode and Jessica Haselkorn cross-filed for two open seats in Region 3.
Haselkorn was the top Democratic vote getter with 1,122 votes, followed by Goode with 963.
Goode was the top vote getter on the Republican ticket with 351 votes, followed by Haselkorn with 289.
There were five Democratic write-in votes and 13 Republican write-in votes for Region 3.
There are no other candidates. All terms are for four years.
