Fox Chapel Area School District's Hartwood Elementary students' 1st day of school delayed
Fox Chapel Area School District students were expected to report to their first day of school Thursday.
However, district officials said an HVAC project has delayed opening day at Hartwood Elementary School.
Its first day of classes is now Aug. 26.
No remote learning will occur at Hartwood this week.
Officials said all other Fox Chapel Area students will begin school as scheduled.
A letter from Superintendent Mary Catherine Reljac went out to district families Wednesday alerting them of the issues.
“This week, the district learned of unforeseen circumstances that require additional attention,” the letter read in part.
“The district is disappointed to share this news and is sorry for the inconvenience this causes to our students, families, and staff. Please know that the district’s contracted construction manager is actively completing the required work as quickly as possible so the district can reopen the building and welcome in the new school year.”
More information about school district activities is available at fcasd.edu.
