Frazer homeowners won't see a property tax increase next year

The real estate tax rate will remain the same for Frazer property owners in 2022.

The township supervisors voted 2-0 to approve a $1.1 million budget preliminary budget on Nov. 2. Supervisor William Creevey was absent for the vote.

Property taxes would remain the same, at 2.5 mills. The township is still offering a $40,000 homestead exemption for residents.

The board will approve the final budget in December.

The budget would be slightly less than this year’s approved $1.3 million budget. The township raised taxes this year for the first time in 25 years.

Officials attributed the tax increase to anticipated decrease in revenues in 2020 and rising expenditures.

The township did see a slight decrease in revenue this year because of covid-related issues but nothing substantial. The township’s finances have stayed balanced, Supervisor Lori Ziencik said.

The township received a grant for next year for roadwork, but the project has not been put out for bid. Supervisors plan to seal-coat the 10 major roads in the township next year, Ziencik said.

Residents have until Dec. 7 to view the 2022 preliminary budget at the township municipal offices, 592 Pittsburgh Mills Circle. The offices are open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
