Freeport Area School District is preparing to shift administrators in anticipation of a planned retirement.

Larry Robb, who has served as Freeport Area’s program director since 2010, will retire effective June 30, according to school board President Gary Risch Jr.

To fill the vacancy, the school board promoted Timothy Walters, who currently serves as principal of both Freeport Area Middle School and Freeport Area Senior High School.

Charles Shipman Jr. will take the helm as high school principal while Renee Bogan will take the lead role at the middle school. Both had previously served as assistant principals at their respective schools.

Walters, Shipman and Bogan will take their positions July 1.

Risch said the remainder of the school year will serve as a “transition period” for the three as they learn the new roles.

“They’re great shifts for the district,” he said.

The district hasn’t yet hired new assistant principals to fill the gaps that will be left by Shipman and Bogan’s promotions, Risch said.
