Editor’s note: The new cost of a secondary student’s school lunch has been corrected.

Freeport Area School District students will shell out a little more cash for meals next school year.

The school board approved the increases Wednesday.

As a result of the increase, students will now pay $1.35 for breakfast.

Elementary students will now pay $2.75 for lunch while secondary students will pay $2.85 for lunch, according to district officials.

Board President Adam Toncini said the lunch prices have remained stable in recent years.

“The last change would have been seven years ago — and that actually was a reduction,” Toncini said.

The increase was approved unanimously.
